More About Within Temptation - Theatrical Gothic Rock

Formed by long-term partners Robert Westerholt and Sharon den Adel in 1996, it didn't take long for the group to be snapped up by label DSFA Records and release their debut album Enter in 1997. Before the end of the year they had already embarked on an international tour and eventually took time out to work on the production of their own studio. It was 2002 single 'Ice Queen' that brought the group their first taste of success, reaching Number 2 in the Netherlands and becoming a Number One hit in Belgium.

After making their UK live debut in 2004, the next few years would see the group produce some of their most crucial work. The Silent Force became an instant chart-topping hit in the Netherlands as well as proving to be popular in the rest of Europe. In 2008, Roadrunner Records released some of the band's back catalogue in the US for the first time, and their presence on international charts was soon secured by 2007's The Heart of Everything, featuring hit duet 'What Have You Done'.
