Usher Biography - From Teen Star to R'n'B Icon
The Chattanooga born singer is one of the few artists to make the successful transition from teen pop star to R'n'B icon, making him the perfect mentor for fledgling stars such as Justin Bieber. His eponymous debut record, featuring hit single 'Think of You', was produced by Sean 'Puffy' Combs and came out when the singer was just 14 years old, propelling him to stardom. Sophomore effort My Way saw the talent co-write six of the nine album tracks, including lead single 'You Make Me Wanna', which topped the UK Singles and US Hot R'n'B Singles chart (the latter for an astounding 11 weeks).
Having also launched his acting career with roles in 90s films The Faculty and Light It Up, the singer released his third album 8701 in 2001. His biggest hit came a further three years later with the Lil John produced 'Yeah!', a track from the Grammy Award-winning Confessions, whilst 2010's Raymond v. Raymond and the Diplo co-produced 2012 full length Looking 4 Myself showed the stars magic touch was showing no signs of waning.
