Tyler, The Creator Biography - An Extremely Odd Future
Born Tyler Gregory Okonma in 1991 in Los Angeles, this hip-hop maverick rose to fame as part of the controversial rap troupe Odd Future, which also featured the singing talents of megastar Frank Ocean. He released his low key debut solo album Bastard in 2009 and the irreverent recording became a cult hit with hip hop tastemakers. However, his 2011 album Goblin saw him bag the cover of NME magazine in the same week Prince William married Kate Middleton, with the rapper mocking the event by wearing a wedding dress for the photoshoot.
The controversy continued but critics leaped to his defense, hailing him as the modern day Eminem - many suspecting him of playing an alter ego akin to the rap mogul's 'Slim Shady'. Criticism hasn't halted his success, with his third album Wolf consolidating his position at the very top of the rap game.
