Mark Tremonti Biography - Hugely Respected Rocker

Born in 1974, this American artist was raised in Detroit's outskirts before moving to Illinois. Absorbing the sounds of Pantera and Metallica, he bought a guitar at the age of eleven. In 1995 he met fellow metal-head Scott Stapp and the both began composing songs together. Jointly they formed Creed and over the following years they would become one of America's most successful bands, hitting Number One with 1999's Human Clay and 2001's Weathered on the way to selling 53 million albums. After the band's split in 2004, the singer/songwriter went on to form a new group, Alter Bridge, with former bandmates Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips. Again feted by critics, the quartet were named one of the greatest artists of the decade by community website Ultimate Guitar Archive and achieved gold-selling success with 2004's One Day Remains album.

Favouring a harder metal sound, the new outfit created an opportunity for Tremonti to re-discover the metal music of his childhood. Burning with creativity, he started work on a solo album, releasing the record, All I Was, to critical acclaim in 2012. Although back recording and touring with a reunited Creed, this amazing axeman still performs solo.
