Son of Rhett Akins - a mid '90s star who sang hits like 'That Ain't My Truck' and 'Don't Get Me Started' - the musician began following in his father's footsteps after high school. He signed a record deal with EMI a few years into college, with his first break helping to write 'I Ain't Ready to Quit' on Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party. Soon he was a star in his own right too, and his debut studio album It Goes Like This arrived in 2013, spawning hits like 'Something to Do with My Hands', 'It Goes Like This' and 'Make Me Wanna'.
