They Might Be Giants Biography - Touring with 2015 Album Glean

The band started life as a duo in 1982 when John Flansburgh and John Linnell met as teens and decided to start an act together. The pair's unusual lyrics and subject matter soon garnered a loyal following as they performed in and around New York City, eventually ending up with a residency at the Darinka where for three years they sold out every performance. The group began to expand their audience after their self-titled debut was released 1986, quickly becoming a hit on MTV and among college radio stations.

The duo found many underground fans with a unique way of sharing their music. Dial A Song, allowed fans to call up a number and listen to a selection of 500 songs recorded as voicemail messages. Since then TMBG have gone on to released 17 studio albums, 13 compilations, seven live albums and 11 singles. The band have been presented two Grammy Awards for their 2002 song 'Boss of Me' and their 2009 'Here Come the 123s'. As well as their adult music, the band are well known for releasing children's albums and podcasts. Now, in 2015, the band have come back with Glean, a record full of the energy and clever lyricism that brought them fame.
