The Raven Age Tickets

Formed in London in 2009, The Raven Age are best described as a heavy metal band, although some music critics choose to class them as a power metal alt rock outfit. The guitar-driven five-piece is led by two key members; George Harris and vocalist Michael Burrough. The former is known to many metal fans because he is not only a talented musician in his own right but the son of the legendary bassist Steve Harris, highly regarded for his work with Iron Maiden over a long career.

As a result of the father-son connection, The Raven Age have won support slots for both Iron Maiden and British Lion, Harris senior’s other touring band. Notably, The Raven Age won many international plaudits when they opened shows for Iron Maiden during their popular Book of Souls tour, which went all over the globe. Other members of the band include Tony Maue, Matt Cox and Jai Patel. Dan Wright, the guitarist who founded the band with Harris, left the performing side of the band in 2017 to act in a managerial role.

The Raven Age's career highlights

The Raven Age spent a few years honing their act before committing any of their self-penned songs to anything more professional than demo recordings. It was in 2014 that the group unleashed their sound on the public in the form of an EP, which was named after the band. However, fans of the outfit would have to wait until 2017 before their debut album came out. The Raven Age announced that a fully-fledged LP was in the pipeline, in August of 2016. Initially, the band had planned to have it released in December of that year, but Darkness Will Rise did not hit the shelves until March the following year.

Darkness Will Rise was generally well received by music critics. Metal Hammer magazine, for instance, praised the melodic nature of the work. Some similarities with like-minded bands have been widely noted, such as the work of Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium, to name but two. Tracks such as “Behind the Mask” were particularly singled out for praise due to their power and anthemic qualities.

As well as supporting the likes of Tremonti, an American heavy metal band that is a spin-off from Creed, The Raven Age have played with several other notable heavy rock acts. In 2017, for example, the group supported Anthrax during the European leg of their Among the Kings tour. Increasingly, The Raven Age are booked as the headline act for gigs in the UK, where their popularity continues to rise.
