Tesseract Evolves Before Your Very Eyes

Progressive metal act Tesseract has overcome numerous hurdles as a band. Since its inception, Tesseract has evolved through an experimental musical approach and a slew of member changes to emerge as one of the founders and most successful spearheads of the Dent musical movement. With their complex brand of rhythm and unique blend of unusual instrumentation, Tesseract heads out for a tour to showcase a blend of energy and visually stunning performances throughout Europe.

Schedule

Tesseract storms through Europe and beyond with multiple dates in France, Germany and Belgium before setting their sights and sounds on U.K. crowds with seven performances as winter approaches. There will be two shows in Russia before all is said and done with, so getting Tesseract tickets on two continents is a definite possibility for huge fans.

Trivia

Tesseract is credited with being instrumental in the rise of Djent style of heavy metal. Along with acts such as Sikth and Meshuggah, Tesseract's style of progressive metal leads the way for the Djent movement including complex and distorted guitar riffs to go along with intricate and soaring solos. Palm muting and the infusion of seven and eight string guitars are other hallmarks of the growing popularity of the progressive metal offshoot.

Band

Founded in 2003 by guitarist Acle Kahney, Tesseract has seen a fair share of member shuffling over its brief history. Julien Perier provided vocals early on before giving way to Daniel Tompkins to provide vocals for the band's debut studio EP, Concealing Fate. Since then, other members have come and gone including Abisola Obasanya, another interim vocalist who was with the band from 2006-2008, and Elliot Coleman who provided vocals from 2011-2012. Daniel Tompkins has returned as the frontman after a three-year separation with Jay Postpones (percussion), James Monteith (guitar), Amos Williams (Bass) and Kahney rounding out the act.

Breakthrough

Tesseract's commercial breakthrough finally happened after the release of One in 2011. The album garnered critical praise and scored Tesseract a nomination for the Golden Gods Award for Best New Band that same year. One was also nominated for and won the Progressive Music Award for New Blood in 2012.

Hit Albums

Having only two full-length studio albums, Tesseract's success has come from both of their acclaimed debut offerings. One and Altered State garnered critical praise and drew several award nominations as the band enjoyed the growing success of their musical style, Djent. Altered State received a nomination for Progressive Music Award for Album of the Year in 2013. Extended play albums, Concealing Fate and Perspective have also helped Tesseract reach an ever-growing audience of fans, and their videography that includes seven major video releases does not hurt much either.

Show Experience

Fans of Tesseract can expect a high energy show experience and a display of skills honed over several years of dogged touring and festival shows. Performances include tracks from all the band's albums which allows those in attendance to see both the evolution of the band's approach and the winding and complicated themes of their often lengthy tunes. Most notably are the inventive rhythms at play and the way Tesseract weaves harmonising vocals over jagged and abrupt beats and bass lines. As the visual often compliments the sound, Tesseract shows are commonly washed with creative lighting exhibitions that augment the quintessential Djent style of musical phrasing and energy.
