Following a stint on NBC's hit show Last Comic Standing and the release of his critically acclaimed film Chef, Canadian comic Russell Peters returns to the UK in 2018.

The stand-up star is heading to Arena Birmingham on 24 April; the SSE Arena, Wembley, on 26 April; and Leeds First Direct Arena on 28 April. The comedian and actor, who now lives in Los Angeles, broke a UK record for sales of a comedy act at London's O2 Arena when more than 16,000 tickets were purchased for his show in 2009.

Russell Peters: YouTube sensation to international success

Born in Toronto to a Canadian mother and Indian father, Peters originally broke into the entertainment world performing as a hip-hop DJ. After switching to the stand-up scene in the late 1980s, the comic worked his way up through several small gigs and become a regular fixture on the comedy circuit.

Although well known among aficionados for many years, it took him until 2004 to truly reach an international audience, when a performance on Canada's Comedy Now! went viral on YouTube. Now one of the top-earning comedians in the world, Peters' newfound international success brought him on a tour across the globe with record-breaking shows in Canada, Australia and the UK.

Peters' jokes feature many recurring characters and themes, such as his experiences growing up in and Indian family. Preferring observational wit to stereotypical humour, he's also well known for his stinging punchlines and leaving audiences in stitches wherever he performs. Extending his repertoire to acting, he's also appeared in a number of movies including Punjabi-Canadian hit Breakaway.

In 2011, the comic starred in his own Christmas special. The show featured several high profile guests including Michael Buble and Pamela Anderson and became the most viewed holiday special in Canada's history.
