Rata Blanca are an Argentinian heavy metal band. Their name translates into English as white rat. Sine forming in 1986, they’ve become one of the most popular metal bands in Argentina. Of the original line-up in 1986, only lead guitarist Walter Giardino remains. As of 2015, they’ve released 10 albums over the course of their more than 30-year career. White Rat – a one in a million band

Rata Blanca debuted with their first album "Rata Blanca" in 1988, which included songs "La Misma Mujer" (The Same Woman), "Chico Callejero" (Street Kids) and "Otoño Medieval" (Medieval Woman). The album recording was fraught with drama, as the band struggled to find a singer. Original singer Saúl Blanch left the group just before recording. Several singers replaced him, but the band finally decided to bring him back just for the album recording. After Blanch left the band, he was replaced permanently by Adrián Barilari. The band’s career has seen many more changes throughout the years. Hugo Bistolfi and vocalist Adrián Barilari both left after "The Hidden Book" EP in 1993 and formed a new band Alliance. Their subsequent albums have fantastical themes like "Magicians, Swords and Roses" (1990), "The Key of the Secret Door" (2005) and "The Forgotten Kingdom" (2008).
