Known for his stripped-down, industrial-esque sound, the ground-breaking producer and DJ is still unquestionably amongst electronic music's biggest names. That in itself is a testament to the Detroit native's longevity; having begun producing and playing records in the mid-80s on Detroit public radio station WDET, he would go on to form the legendary Underground Resistance with cohorts 'Mad' Mike Banks and Robert 'Noise' Hood later in the decade. In 1992 his formal relationship with the collective would come to an end as he moved across the continent to New York, where he'd sign for German label Tresor and focus further on his solo and DJ career.

As well as creating the label Axis and collaborating with Hood for a series of release on his M-Plant label, the producer would turn his talents to scoring a brand new soundtrack for the iconic 1926 film Metropolis. Further boundary-pushing ventures also included Blue Potential, a live album released in 2006 with the Montpellier Philharmonic Orchestra.
