The Eden Project itself was the brainchild of Tim Smit who, along with architect Nicholas Grimshaw, engineers Anthony Hunt and associates and designer Mero created the paradise gardens we know today. The iconic ‘biomes’, the dome-shaped glasshouses, opened in 2001 and are home to botanical gardens with plants collected from around the world.
