A traditional form of cricket, Test matches are played between two teams of 11 players with four innings - allowing each team to bowl and bat twice. Officially rated first-class cricket, Test matches can only be played between international teams who have been awarded the correct status by the International Cricket Council. The most recent team granted this was Bangladesh in 2000, bringing the total number up to ten. The first officially recognised match of this type was played between England and Australia in March, 1877 at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground. However, the origins of this form of the game can be traced right back to the 16th century.

Lasting for up until five days, each day of a Test match is divided into three two-hour sessions. As one of the more civilised sports around, cricket offers breaks for both lunch and afternoon tea, with additional breaks for drinks every hour.
