Award-winning American entertainer Childish Gambino - born Donald Glover - first found fame as a writer and actor on hit US TV shows such as 30 Rock, before setting his sights on musical domination. After debuting with 2011's Camp album, he returned in 2013 with critically acclaimed follow-up Because the Internet, hitting the upper echelons of the US charts in America and garnering significant buzz in the UK.

Third album "Awaken, My Love!" was released in 2016, with single "Redbone" earning nominations for Record of the Year, Best R&B Song, and winning the Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. The album itself received Grammy Award nominations for Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Award, before Glover released the song and video for "This Is America" in 2018, which debuted at number-one on the Hot 100, and become his first top ten hit and number-one single in the US.

Childish Gambino: multi-talented writer and performer

Celebrated Californian hip-hop artist Childish Gambino first came to attention for scripting the NBC comedy show Community in 2006 before eventually hitting the big time as a comedy writer for the hit series 30 Rock. The rapper has gone on to enjoy a glittering stand-up and music career off the back of his hilarious writing style and is now famed for peppering his unique brand of music with his signature edgy style. Christened Donald Glover, he found his alter ego moniker on a Wu Tang Clan name generator before releasing his debut record Sick Boi - following it up with the independent album Poindexter in 2009.

Building a solid reputation with the release of 2010 mixtapes I Am Just a Rapper and I Am Just a Rapper 2, he hit the big time with his official debut album Camp in 2011. Singles such as "3005" from second album Because the Internet have sparked widespread interest and his willingness to cover touchy topics with humour is now celebrated on both sides of the Atlantic.
