Beyoncé - Superstar Releases New Album Lemonade
After debuting single 'Formation' at the 2016 Super Bowl halftime show, Queen Bey certainly kept fans in suspense for the release of sixth solo album Lemonade, but it's proved well worth the wait since its April unveiling. Accompanied by a 60-minute video of the same name, the record boasts a host of incredible guest stars. With Jack White appearing on 'Don't Hurt Yourself', '6 Inch' featuring The Weeknd, James Blake on 'Forward' and 'Freedom' with Kendrick Lamar', each track showcases a different string to its star's bow. Voted the most powerful female musician of 2015 by Forbes Magazine, this sensational performer has become an icon of modern music since her days as the lead singer of '90s girl group Destiny's Child. The band's 2001 hiatus saw the feisty artist step out on her own, and she scored five Grammy Awards with debut solo LP Dangerously in Love two years later. Since then, she has become a brand in herself, along with forming one of the celeb world's power couples alongside rapper husband Jay Z. This year will see the songstress head out on a world tour in celebration of the album, including a number of dates in the UK. Grab Beyoncé tickets on StubHub for a place in the crowd.
Beyoncé Biography - Destiny's Child Singer Hits Superstardom After Going Solo
Born Beyoncé Giselle Knowles - with her first name an adapted form of her mother's maiden surname - this aspiring singer was placed in an early version of girl group Destiny's Child at the age of eight by her entrepreneurial parents. Breakthrough album Writing's On the Wall arrived in 1999, spawning some of their best known singles including 'Bills, Bills, Bills' and 'Say My Name'. With Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams on board, they released chart topper Survivor before a move into acting saw Beyoncé break away from the group. She featured on rapper (and future husband) Jay Z's track '03 Bonnie & Clyde', before he helped produce her debut single 'Crazy in Love' in 2003, which secured a number one. The singer's career quickly exploded, and second record B'Day saw similar success with top five hits in 'Deja Vu' and 'Irreplaceable'.
Third LP I Am... Sasha Fierce debuted her new alter ego and proved a roaring success, with some of the most iconic tracks of her career to date such as 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)', 'If I Were a Boy' and 'Halo'. After a collaboration with Lady Gaga on 'Telephone', Knowles became the first solo female artist to headline the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury Festival in more than 20 years in 2011. Her fourth studio album, aptly named 4, dropped the same year, with singles 'Love on Top' and 'Run the World (Girls)' hitting the top of the charts. Keeping her fans on their toes, she brought out an eponymous fifth record at the end of the year with no prior promotion, helping her become the first woman in chart history to have five consecutive albums debut at number one. In 2016, after an incredible performance at the Super Bowl and a huge build up, Knowles dropped sixth album Lemonade. Featuring an array of exciting fellow artists, the record is fast reasserting her place as one of the most influential singers in music history.
