And So I Watch You From Afar Tickets

An experimental rock band from Northern Ireland, And So I Watch You From Afar is a four-piece that plays mostly instrumental works. Based in the city of Belfast, the group is made up of two guitarists, Rory Friers and Niall Kennedy, as well as Johnny Adger, the band's bassist, and the drummer, Chris Wee. Tony Wright was a founding member of And So I Watch You From Afar who has since departed. Although much of their music is without lyrics, where vocals are used they tend to be arranged as group singing in parts. Friers is credited with being the band's main songwriter, although the group have gone on record as saying that their creativity is often found when they rehearse together as a four-piece.

And So I Watch You From Afar's career milestones

And So I Watch You From Afar first got going in 2007, when Wright was a major contributor to the writing. This Is Our Machine And Nothing Can Stop It was the group's earliest release; an EP that was put out on CD only. The band followed this up with Tonight The City Burns, another EP that came out on CD only, in the same year. Since then, And So I Watch You From Afar has released one further EP, The Letters, a work that first made it into the public domain in 2010.

Following their two self-released EPs of 2007, the band signed a deal with Smalltown America, a Northern Irish label that is also the home of bands such as We Versus the Shark and Axis Of. It was for this label that the band produced their eponymous debut album, which came out in April 2013. Available on CD and for digital download for the first time, the LP featured songs such as “These Riots Are Just the Beginning”, “Tip of the Hat, Punch in the Face” and “A Little Bit of Solidarity Goes a Long Way”. It was re-released in 2013.

In 2011, the band found chart success with their follow-up album, entitled Gangs. Mixed by Rocky O'Reilly and mastered by Robin Schmidt, it got to number 35 in the UK indie charts, as well as 28 in the Irish Album Charts. All eight tracks were critically well received by the music press.

During the summer of 2012, the group spent time touring, including a five-city tour of China. Around this time, the band changed lineup and switched record labels. The following year, All Hail Bright Futures came out; an album featuring Kennedy for the first time. To date, the band have made two more albums for Sargent House; Heirs of 2015 and The Endless Shimmering of 2017.
