A self-made pop star

Born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1994, Alec Benjamin initially opted for the DIY approach when it came to pursuing a career as a musician. He self-released his 2013 mixtape "America", recorded 2014 single "Paper Crown" in his University of Southern California dorm room and slowly built up a fanbase by performing in outside venues hosting shows by the likes of teen sensations Troye Sivan and Shawn Mendes. He subsequently landed a major label deal and was invited by Jon Bellion to guest on "New York Soul Pt. II", a track from the singer's 2016 album, "The Human Condition". In 2017 Benjamin inadvertently became a viral sensation when one of his songs, "I Built a Friend", was used as the soundtrack for contemporary dancer Merrick Hanna's audition on the 12th season of "America's Got Talent". A year later Benjamin added to his discography with the release of "Narrated for You", a second mixtape featuring 12 self-penned compositions. From major label hits to independent fan favourites

Since signing to Atlantic Records, Alec Benjamin has showcased his lyrical maturity, radio-friendly pop sound and expressive voice on numerous official singles including "Let Me Down Slowly", "The Boy in the Bubble", "If We Have Each Other", "Death of a Hero" and "Outrunning Karma".
